Australian Science Communicators WA Branch have the following events
planned for the rest of the year:




ScienceNetwork WA and ASC-WA are delighted to invite you to a talk on
Web 2.0 for science communicators


Do you know the difference between blogs, wikis and bookmarks? Maybe
you've dabbled in social networking sites like Facebook or MySpace. But
have you ever used any of these Web 2.0 tools to communicate


Join us as Dr Michele Willson, a senior lecturer in Internet Studies at
Curtin University of Technology, guides us through what is happening in
this age of Web 2.0 and social media, and answers your questions on what
it will mean for science communicators.


There will also be the opportunity to network with ScienceNetwork WA
journalists and other communication professionals. Drinks and nibbles
will be provided.

Da Vinci Machines Exhibition

Experience the incredible inventions of Leonardo da Vinci come to life
in this outstanding interactive exhibition of finely crafted machines by
the internationally acclaimed Artisans of Florence - Teknoart.

The Exhibition presents over sixty machines based on the original
drawings of Leonardo da Vinci, featuring his amazing flying machines,
nautical, hydraulic and architectural innovations, groundbreaking
applications of civil engineering and incredible war machines.

Time: 3.45pm - 5.00pm followed by beverages at The Lucky Shag Bar @
Barrack St Jetty

Date: Saturday 5th July 2008

Location: Riverside Drive, Opposite the Esplanade Railway Station. Perth

National Science week belated celebration.  

A chance for us to all catch up after National Science week 2008 has
finished. Come along to chat about what worked and what didn't as well
as thoughts for NSwk 2009....or to just catch up with fellow science

Location: The Vic - 226 Hay St Subiaco.

TED - ideas worth spreading. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment,
Design. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together
people from those three worlds. Since then its scope has become ever
broader. The annual conference now brings together the world's most
fascinating thinkers and doers, who are challenged to give the talk of
their lives (in 18 minutes). Come along to this session to view some
great talks. Followed by lively discussion, drinks and nibbles.

The finer things in life. Visits to a chocolate factory, brewery and
winery to find out the scientific secrets to all the things we love.
