Panel Discussion: Stem Cells in Action, The State of Translation of Stem
Cell Research in Australia and New Zealand,
17th November 1.30 -3 pm
Brisbane Convention Centre

The Australasian Society for Stem Cell Research has organized a Panel
Discussion to initiate dialogue about translation of new stem cell
research and whether our region is an adequate niche. Some areas the
discussion aims to focus on include, current practice for clinical
trials, regulatory hurdles, public awareness of the issues and the outcomes.

Panelists for this highly topical discussion include eminent stem cell
researchers from Australia and the US, bioethicist and government
representatives, promising a well-rounded and exciting discussion.

The Australasian Society for Stem Cell Research aims to establish and
enhance strong links between researchers and clinicians to allow
efficient research translation and also aims to foster links with other
disciplines including bioethics, law and sociology. In so doing, the
society will provide accurate and well-rounded information to the
general public as well as providing opportunities for public engagement
with stem cell research in the region. For further information about the
society, www.asscr.org

This Forum is part of the Australian Health and Medical Research
Congress. Media and science communicators are welcome. For a media pass
