CSIRO seeks an experienced, tertiary qualified, Communications & Outreach Manager to join the cutting edge, science and technical research environment at the Australia Telescope National Facility based at
Marsfield, Sydney. You will lead a small team in the delivery of innovative communications solutions and be responsible for the development and delivery of marketing, communications & outreach plans aimed at
promoting the ATNF's activities, breakthrough discoveries, and science achievements. You will influence industry stakeholders, and stimulate a greater awareness of astronomy and the exploration of our Universe as a fascinating field of science.
The Australia Telescope National Facility (ATNF), a division of CSIRO, is Australia's premier radio astronomy research organisation, the largest of its kind in the southern hemisphere and a leader in international radio astronomy. We operate the famous "Dish" 64-metre antenna near Parkes, as well as antennas near Narrabri and Coonabarabran. We are also at the forefront of a $1.8B global mega-science project known as the Square Kilometre Array, by building a pathfinder radio telescope in Western Australia known as ASKAP. The ATNF is participating with the Australian Commonwealth and state governments in a strategy to be
recognised as the optimum site for the SKA including an innovative and cooperative approach to communications. Education material involving data and information from ASKAP will expose the next generation to
world-class astronomical science and technology in a unique way.
The successful applicant will be a self-motivated, creative and hands-on individual with relevant tertiary qualifications and a successful track record of communications and outreach delivery in line with organisational objectives. Proven leadership skills and supervisory experience will enable you to lead, develop and motivate a small, experienced team in the delivery of timely and informative communication solutions across a range of media. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential as is the ability to manage concurrent projects and deadlines with effective prioritisation.
