I want to bring this article to peoples' attention. It picks up on a
fundamental issue in science communications- understanding the implications.
Risk Communication on Climate: Mental Models and Mass Balance, John D.
Sterman 2008
Abstract
The strong scientific consensus on the causes and risks of climate change
stands in stark contrast to widespread confusion and complacency among the
public. This policy forum explores the reasons for the gap, reports
experimental results with MIT graduate students showing poor understanding
of the basic processes of accumulation governing the concentration of
greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, and discusses the implications for
climate research and policy.
