Join ASC President, Tim Thwaites for an evening of freelance science
communication. 

Tim will talk about the ups and downs of freelancing from his own experience
and give his top tips for becoming a freelance science communicator.

When: Tuesday, 16 September at 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start (refreshments
provided)

Where: The Conference Room at the bottom of the Duhig Building (Social
Sciences and Humanities Library), The University of Queensland

Cost: $5 for ASC members and $8 for non-ASC members

About Tim:

Tim Thwaites is a science writer and broadcaster who has nearly 30 years
experience of putting science, medicine and technology into everyday
language. He works for universities, research institutions, professional
organisations and private companies in the areas of journalism, public
relations, public speaking, and writing reports and newsletters. He also
contributes to magazines in Australia, Europe and North America. On radio he
has provided regular science updates for the ABC and commercial stations in
Australia and New Zealand. Tim teaches a subject called Creating Non-Fiction
in the English Department at La Trobe University in Melbourne.
