Radio Astronomy and the Square Kilometre Array
Western Australia has a significant link to the radio astronomy Square
Kilometre Array (SKA) a ground breaking international science project that
has world-wide implications.
To celebrate National Science Week 2009 and the International Year of
Astronomy, join leading Curtin University of Technology Radio Astronomer -
Professor Steven Tingay, as he discusses Western Australia's role in the
biggest science project of this century the SKA. Explore the future of
astronomy, discover what this means for planet Earth and investigate how you
can become involved in this exciting international venture.
After the presentation, Gingin Observatory astronomers will offer a laser
beam constellation tour of the night sky and an opportunity to stargaze
through the telescopes.
Complimentary tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits are included in the
