Jazz musician James Morrison teams up with astronomer Fred Watson on
20 February 2009 for an evening of heavenly entertainment in Sydney.
James Morrison is a veteran of the jazz world who started playing
professionally at the age of 13, and debuted in the USA at the
Monterey Jazz Festival at 16. Playing the trumpet, trombone,
euphonium, flugelhorn, tuba, saxophones and piano, James will glide
through great jazz standards such as “Fly me to the moon” and “Stella
by Starlight”.
Professor Fred Watson will weave his magic in words, taking us on a
trip through the Universe. Astronomer-in-Charge at the Anglo-
Australian Observatory in NSW, Fred is also a writer, broadcaster and
musician who always delights his audience, whether he’s explaining
the intricacies of the solar system or singing “Galaxy redshift blues”.
James and Fred will be joined by talented chanteuse Emma Pask, winner
of the 2006 Mo Award for "Jazz Vocalist of the Year".
This will be a great night's entertainment, mixing musical pleasure
with the wonders of the universe.
