WHAT: Media Skills for Scientists; two day workshop

Topics covered include: what makes a media-friendly story and  
tailoring your messages to increase impact. Experienced ABC radio and  
television journalist, Geraldine Mellet provides tips on preparing for  
an interview.

Participants are interviewed by experienced journalists and receive  
feedback on their interviews.

WHEN: 9am to 5pm on Monday 29 June and Friday 3 July

WHO: Scientists who want to improve their effectiveness when  
interviewed by the media

Past participants include staff and students from Western Power, the
Future Farm Industry CRC, Scitech Discovery Centre, Department of
Health, Decisions and Designs, Pty Ltd, UWA Mechanical Engineering,
UWA Business School and Department of Fisheries.

HOW MUCH? $600, inclusive of tuition, workshop materials, lunches and
morning and afternoon teas.

WHERE: UWA Crawley Campus; Centre for Learning Technology; ground  
floor of Physics building; entry via ramp between Geology and Physics
