Shared Sky - Thursday 7 May @ NGV Fed Square
See Shared Sky with its curator Allison Holland. Then hear Rod
Quantock's take on Hubble and astronomy.
Shared Sky is an exhibition of prints and drawings by Indigenous and
non-Indigenous artists, also sculpture, painting and photography that
explores the cultural experience of the night sky over our southern
continent.
>From Warmun in North Western Australia to Melbourne in Victoria, artists
of different cultural backgrounds and locales explore humanity's
enduring psychological engagement with the southern stars over the
centuries.
"Cultures from around the world and throughout the ages have used
simple astronomical observations to mark the cycle of the seasons and
the division of time," says Allison Holland, Curator, Prints & Drawings.
Allison has agreed to take us on a floor walk of the exhibition.
Then at 6pm we will join an "Art Chat" with comedian Rod Quantock who
will discuss photographs from the Hubble space telescope and the art of
the universe
