the effectiveness of science communication

The workshop will begin with a short presentation on some provocative
facts, figures and challenges in considering the Big Questions in the
science communication profession. These include what we know (and don't
know) about scientific literacy among student and public audiences.
Explore the reasons why new and emerging technologies are changing our
thinking in best practices in science communication.

Bring your own questions and data (if you have any) for the open
discussion that will follow the presentation. Feel free to bring a few
slides of your own to share your experiences if you wish.

    * Dr Carol Oliver is a specialist in evidence-based science
      communication with the Australian Centre for Astrobiology in the
      School of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences at UNSW.
