Come and join us in the beautiful new Adelaide Science Exchange for
informal light lunch and a research seminar by University of WA Honours
student Mark Cornish.
About Mark's research:
Public opinion on the causes and predicted effects of global climate
change is fragmented. Why is this?
One line of inquiry to explain such fragmentation is the mass media
representation of the internationally recognized scientific consensus on
human-induced climate change.
Mark Cornish, a chemistry graduate and science communication honours
student at the University of Western Australia is currently undertaking
work experience at the Australian Science Media Centre. Mark will
discuss the Australian media's depiction of the scientific consensus in
several nation-wide media outlets.
If we're lucky we might also hear a little bit about some research Mark
has been doing at the AusSMC comparing media coverage of the Canberra
(2003) and Victorian (2009) bushfires.
