[ASC-list] New Chief Scientist

AUSTRALIA'S new Chief Scientist is Ian Chubb, an academic and  
scientist who was most recently vice-chancellor of the Australian  
National University.
Professor Chubb replaces Penny Sackett, who resigned as chief  
scientist in February, halfway through her five-year term.

It was later revealed that Professor Sackett had not met formally with  
Prime Minister Julia Gillard and only once talked with her predecessor  
Kevin Rudd.
