Don't miss out on Scitech's third, and final, Illuminating Lecture!

Shedding light on medical imaging - 3 May 2011

A public lecture by Luke C. Barclay, Senior Lecturer in the Medical Imaging program at Curtin University

Over the history of image based medical diagnosis there have been many developments in how light, and other areas of the electromagnetic spectrum, are used in its technology. In the past twenty years research developments of digital imaging have been increasingly incorporated into clinical practice, changing the way many traditional processes are managed. This talk will highlight the evolving imaging processes used in medical imaging covering both clinical use and research developments, along with the opportunities they allow.

Luke C. Barclay is a Senior Lecturer in the medical imaging program at Curtin University. His teaching experience ranges from the scientific and technological aspects of imaging technology, through to current best practice models in clinical care. Current research pursuits include the area of paediatric digital imaging; image based anthropometric data extraction; the psychosocial characteristics of clinical education and thermal imaging applications
