[ASC-list] Inspiring Australia activities in Canberra

Two events that might be of interest to ASC-listers, posted on behalf of Marg McIver (Margaret.mciver at csiro.au<mailto:Margaret.mciver at csiro.au>):

Inspiring Australia Dinner with Dr Fiona Wood on 18 March at University House. Dr Wood will be talking about her world leading research into scarless burns healing, her invention of synthetic skin, her involvement in major disaster management in Australia and overseas (eg Bali bombing) and also what motivated her and inspired her to become a world leader in her field. Those of you who have seen her on TV or even met her will know that she is one of Australia's most inspiring people and also an excellent science communicator. Booking through Canberra Ticketing.
Cafe Scientifique Is Smaller Sometimes Better? A discussion with experts on nanotachnology to be held at Synergy café, CSIRO Discovery, on 20 May. Bookings are through the Alliance Francaise de Canberra on 6247 5027. Entry is free and bookings will begin on 31 March.

For those involved with schools, young people and education there are also the following three IA events:

·         Dr Fiona Wood teleconference to schools and also a live audience. A Questacon event on 18 March

·         Science Meets Art Competition in partnership with the Youth Coalition and National Youth Week

·         Science Meets Art Exhibition at the Discovery Centre from 1 to 10 April
