excellent opportunity exists to join our Community Relations team to promote
the institute as a desired organisation to leave a bequest.
The Walter and Eliza Hall Institute is home to more than 550 scientists
who are working to understand, prevent and treat diseases including cancer –
particularly blood, breast, ovarian and lung cancers - type 1 diabetes,
rheumatoid arthritis, coeliac disease, hepatitis and malaria. The institute is committed to making fundamental
discoveries about the way cells behave and communicate, and seeing these
discoveries translated into benefits for patients.
Development Officer will spend their time engaging with the community across a
number of sectors including the legal and financial sectors, to raise the
profile of the institute. Experience
in engagement and relationship building is necessary to ultimately increase
supporters and prospects. Working closely with the Community Relations Manager
and Donor Relations Manager, the appointee will also need to research
opportunities to profile the institute in the community both face to face and
The successful candidate will
be a keen team player with strong experience in online and social media, as
well as being a strong administrator.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Mac) and Raiser’s Edge database are
essential. A background in
community relations will be highly regarded.
This position is available for 2 years in the first instance. Up to 17% superannuation and very
attractive salary packaging options are available.
