Astronomy with Radioactivity - Professor Donald Clayton

On behalf of VESKI and Museum Victoria it is with great pleasure that I invite you to attend a lecture to be presented by Donald Clayton, Emeritus Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Clemson University in South Carolina.

Astronomers, astrophysicists and nuclear physicists from around the world are meeting in Victoria to present ways in which radioactivity can be used as a tool for astronomical understanding. To see how this can be done requires discussion of modern astronomy techniques as well as discussion of the basics of radioactive nuclear decay. Emeritus Professor Donald Clayton will describe six ways in which radioactivity provides a
toll for measuring unique aspects of the evolution of the universe and its components.

Professor Clayton is visiting Australia as an international guest of the Astronomy with Radioactivities VII International Workshop which is being co-ordinated by the Centre for Stellar and Planetary Astrophysics, Monash University. VESKI has supported this international workshop via their Awards in Science program.

This lecture presented in partnership with VESKI and Monash University reflects each organisation's support for public engagement in science.

Please feel free to extend this invitation to your friends, family and colleagues. However, bookings are essential due to the seating limitations of the theatre. A synopsis of the Discovery Lecture topic and booking information are enclosed.
