			Social
media as an information sharing network is increasingly of
interest to writers, journalists, authorities, celebrities and
governments everywhere. But it's more than just real-time news
			platforms.

Sharing of ideas, observations, conversations
and links is incredibly effective for developing professional
			networks and engaging diverse publics.

Come and discuss
how, why and why not individuals and organisations are using these
			tools.

			Workshops
are participatory. This one doubly so. This workshop will focus on
			use of Twitter and Wordpress.

Participants should expect to
listen, question, think, discuss and write their way to a
familiarity with social media and will leave the session confident
in their ability to do far more than share what they ate for
breakfast with a group of strangers.

			        Twitter:
The distilled essence of social media. Broadcast and conversation
			140 characters at a time.

         Wordpress: A content
management system for publishing to the web. Wordpress is simply
enough for sole practitioners and large organisations. The ASC
website is powered by Wordpress. And if nothing else publishing
using Wordpress will give you links to tweet about.

			PARTICIPANT
			PREREQUISITES
This workshop has no requisites. Enjoyment of
text in 140 character chunks an advantage.

Feel free to BYO
phone, tablet or laptop that has a web browser and can connect to
the internet, however facilities will be provided.
