Dear All ASCers,

'Faraday's Candle,' a theatre performance, will be performed in Melbourne as part of the 2011 Melbourne Fringe Festival.

'Faraday's Candle' was inspired by Michael Faraday's public lectures given more than 150 years ago . Society may have changed, technology has advanced and language has evolved, but the phenomena underpinning a candle remain constant. Today, candles are rarely seen outside birthday cakes, churches, romantic dinners and power failures, but are no less fascinating. In fact, these contexts provide an insight to the enduring value of the candle: celebration, emotion and the ever-present need for light.

In the majestic surrounds of St Paul's Cathedral, re-science invites you to discover the power, magnificence and simple elegance of the flame.
