Meet your fellow medical/science writers at a special Australasian Medical
Writers Association dinner on Friday 24 August at the Greek Club, 29-31
Edmondstone St, South Brisbane, at 7.00 for 7.30pm. Cost is $65 and details
are found at http://www.medicalwriters.org/cms/details.asp?ID=121

The after dinner speaker is the delightful Professor John Pearn, AO

Professor John Pearn AO is a paediatrician, doctor-soldier, teacher,
historian and-with minimal exaggeration-renaissance man. While some would
argue that running the entire Australian Defence Force health service as
Surgeon-General is a busy gig, throughout it Prof. Pearn continued to add to
his credentials as a writer. He can boast 40 published books, whose varied
titles reflect his extraordinarily eclectic interests.

His subjects include Rwandan conflicts, Aesculapius, Scottish Highland
ancestry, medicinal herbs and woundworts (not Hogwarts: they're for pigs),
fossils, stamps and envenomation. The only common thread is John Pearn. This
Vietnam vet parachutes, dresses in period costume and conducts
orchestras.possibly concurrently.

He has charmed and delighted an entire generation of Qld medical students
and now, as a renowned entertaining speaker, he will mesmerise the AMWA
dinner audience. Prepare to be enlightened about five subjects you have
never even thought of before.
