Hi Susan,

'Choosing and Using Statistics - A biologists Guide - 2nd Edition

This book is designed for biologists who do not have a strong statistical
background - while comprehensive much of it is written in plain English.
You can easily look up common tests.

hope this helps and a PD workshop is a good idea
