As part of APS Innovation Week (2 - 8 June), Geoscience Australia will be hosting several special public events to showcase some of the latest scientific innovations being used to help uncover Australia's hidden mineral wealth and monitor earthquakes. Innovation Week<http://innovation.govspace.gov.au/events/innovationweek2012/> is about sharing new ideas, solutions and priorities to get better results and outcomes.
A World Wind tour of earthquakes and Australia's mineral resources - Tuesday 5 June 2012

Experience a virtual 3D look at some of Australia's key national geophysical and mineral datasets using Geoscience Australia's World Wind 3D Data Viewer<http://www.ga.gov.au/products-services/maps/interactive-3d-models/world-wind-3d-data-viewer.html> application. This will be followed by a visit to the operations hub of the Joint Australian Tsunami Warning Centre<http://www.ga.gov.au/hazards/our-capabilities/monitoring/tsunami-warning.html>. Three public tours will be offered at 10am, 12pm and 2pm on Tuesday 5 June, with numbers strictly limited to 20 visitors per tour.
Searching the Deep Earth Public Seminar- Wednesday 6 June 2012

Geoscience Australia geophysicist Richard Chopping will be presenting a public seminar as part of APS Innovation Week on Searching the Deep Earth: uncovering Australia's hidden mineral wealth from 11am-12pm on Wednesday 6 June. The seminar will explain the cutting-edge techniques being used to discover Australia's mineral resources, and explore some of the innovative high performance computing research being undertaken to help uncover Australia's hidden mineral wealth.
