This Friday, 21 September
The University of Western Australia
Program in Science Communication welcomes
Elaine Horne of the WA Department of
Environment and Conservation to discuss:

Engaging Schools in Nature-Based
Education Programs

Many science communication institutions,
from research centres to non-governmental
organisations, museums, zoos and parks
endeavour to support science education in
schools.

As a Senior Project Officer with the
WA Department of Environment and
Conservation (DEC), Elaine has unique
insight on the challenge of helping
schools. She is currently responsible
for providing feedback on the Australian
Senior Secondary Curriculum and ensuring
that DEC education programs provide
maximum support for teachers implementing
the new Australian Curriculum.

Elaine’s experience includes oversight of
EcoEducation programs, Bush Rangers WA,
Nearer to Nature and the Perth Hills
Centre, as well as years in the
Curriculum Council, Department of
Education central office and teaching
secondary science in the classroom.

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from
a voice of experience!

>From 4.00 this Friday, 21 September at
the UWA Centre for Learning Technology.
No RSVP Required.
