Dear ASC-list readers and ASC members,

As you are probably aware we have a diverse list of readers and members,
hence the broad ASC tagline "for those who make science accessible".

As you may or may not know, the ASC is a full member of the World
Federation of Science Journalists (WFSJ).

See more about the WFSJ including the member list here:

I am curious to know how many of our list readers and ASC financial members
see themselves as aligned with, and/or actively engaged with, science
journalism in general.

Is there a specific subscriber group for science journalists in Australia
or is the ASC-list the main source of such information and interaction?

If there are a number of you, does the ASC-list currently serve your
purposes? If not, what would?

Have you or your colleagues attended any of the WFSJ conferences?*

See past conferences on the left menu at: http://www.wfsj.org/conferences/

Did you enjoy them, gain value from them, wish to hear more about them,
desire to be more involved in future?

* I attended (and co-produced a session for) the 5th WCSJ in Melbourne in
2007. This event was co-hosted by the ASC and WFSJ.

See: http://www.wfsj.org/conferences/page.php?id=53

I found the conference sessions and networking valuable on a number of
levels. Several of the speakers were top calibre and it was a privilege to
hear some of the fine thinking emerging in the room. I also enjoyed the
full spectrum of perspectives from people in the audience who held many
varied roles in the realm of science communication.

It was also wonderful to have Science Editors involved in the conference.
Their professional development workshops on science editing booked out and
had a waiting list (bad luck for me, because I still need to attend one!).
We also got to appreciate the editorial perspective in some of the openly,
sometimes heatedly, interactive sessions.

Has anybody else had similar, or very different, experiences?
