With the Brumbies, Raiders, Capitals, Cavalry and dozens of AIS Olympians calling Canberra home, sport is close to the heart of many Canberrans, and as Canberra celebrates its 100th birthday this long weekend, what better time to look not backward but forward and take a glimpse at what the future of Australian sport might look like.

On 11 March (Canberra Day), CSIRO and the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) along with Inspiring Australia will host a café discussion on What is shaping the future of Australian sport?

The panel will address the role and nature of sport in Australian society amid growing concerns over organised crime, drugs and match fixing reported in the media recently.

Held in the CSIRO Discovery Café, the morning will offer a unique opportunity for the general public, scientists and sports commentators to gather over coffee and a free lunch to discuss the opportunities, challenges and threats facing the sport industry. No scientific knowledge is required to participate – just a willingness to listen, ask questions and express opinions.

To reserve your seat at the café discussion, please visit www.inspiringtheact.org.au/event/sport.
