Our Organisation

The Association of Australian Medical Research Institutes (AAMRI) is the
peak body representing Australia’s independent medical research institutes
(MRIs). AAMRI plays a pivotal role in representing the interests of medical
research and MRIs to Federal Parliamentarians, government agencies and the

The Position

The Communications Manager will be wholly responsible for managing and
implementing AAMRI’s media and communications activities, and will provide
high-level strategic communications advice to the AAMRI President and Board. This
exciting and dynamic role involves:

·      
Developing an effective
communications strategy for the organisation

·      
Building and maintaining media
relationships and generating media coverage

·      
Developing and managing
communications across all media channels

·      
Preparing communication documents
and editing report content

·      
Building networks with
communications teams of member institutes

·      
Assisting with event management.

 

This is a
part-time (20 hr/wk), 12 month position, with the potential of extension. The
role will be based in Melbourne. A competitive remuneration package, including
generous salary packaging, will be negotiated with the successful applicant.

 

Skills and Experience

The successful
applicant will have tertiary qualifications in media, communications or public
relations, and at least five years’ experience in a similar role. They will
have an ability to work autonomously with a high level of accountability, and
will have strong media writing skills and an ability to provide high-level
strategic advice. Journalistic experience and/or experience with
Parliamentarians or government would be highly regarded.
