Two
exciting opportunities exist to join the Community Relations team at the Walter
and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research to enhance engagement opportunities,
raise awareness of the institute and support fundraising activities.

 

Science Communications
Officer

 

The
Science Communications Officer will assist in the development and promotion of
website content, brochures, newsletters, media releases and advertising
collateral. The appointee will work with the Media and Publications Manager to
communicate the institute’s discoveries to multiple audiences.

 

The
successful candidate will have a tertiary science qualification and a
qualification or experience in communications, public relations or journalism. Demonstrated
high-level interpersonal and written communication skills and the ability to
translate complex scientific ideas into lay language is integral to the role.

 

This
position is a 6-month contract full-time.

Communications Officer

 

The
Communications Officer will help to develop content for the institute’s communication
channels, as well as help in the implementation of internal communication
campaigns. Working closely with the Web Communications Manager, the appointee
will liaise with institute staff and students to ensure content is produced and
distributed.

 

The
successful candidate will have qualifications in communications, journalism or
public relations, with 2–3 years experience in a communications role, as well
as demonstrated high-level interpersonal, written and oral communication
skills. Knowledge of contemporary media and communication tools is also
essential.

 

This
position is a 6-month contract full-time.
