Role: GECA is looking for someone to join its small but dedicated and
hardworking team to assist with the marketing and promotion of its
activities, its ecolabel and its certified products. The full time position
is located at our office in Surry Hills, a few minutes’ walk from Sydney’s
Central Station.
About GECA
GECA is Australia’s leading certifier of environmentally preferable goods
and services. GECA is not-for-profit, independent, and the only Australian
member of the Global Ecolabelling Network (GEN).
GECA helps people choose products and services that are better for the
environment by developing independent, robust environmental standards and
tools against which products and services can be certified, and provides
expert advice on sustainable production and consumption in consumer and
commercial markets.
By making it easier to choose environmentally preferable products and
services, GECA helps reduce the demand on natural resources, and reduces
the risks to the community and the environment.
GECA Standards reach across a number of commercial and consumer industries.
 Duties:
• Writing a range of material including for our website, reports, press
releases, articles and blogs
• Working with the Standards team to translate technical information in to
easy to understand but still technically accurate material
• With support, developing media and marketing plans and implementing them
• Working with GECA licensees to promote their products and activities
• Managing documents, including tracking media coverage
• Some administrative tasks
• Other tasks as directed

Qualifications/skills
• Minimum of Bachelors qualification in Journalism, Communications or
equivalent
• Minimum of two years work experience in a communications/writing role,
ideally in a science, environment or building related field
• Superior written and verbal communications skills and the ability to
write both technical and less formal communications
• Experience managing a website and social media tools
• Demonstrated research skills
• Creative thinking
• Good attention to detail
• An understanding of environmental issues relevant to Australian
• Self motivated
