Workshop objective
To understand the copyediting process used by professional editors.
Content
In this workshop participants will:
• define copyediting
• discuss current trends in capitalisation, punctuation and spelling
• create and follow an editorial stylesheet
• edit a sample piece of writing.
Participant profile
This introductory workshop is aimed at medical writers with little to no experience in copyediting.
Workshop format
The workshop includes a mandatory a pre-workshop assignment as well as an online session. The pre-workshop assignment should take no longer than one hour and must be returned to the presenter by COB 27 November. The two-hour online session includes a one-hour interactive presentation, an editing exercise and discussion.
You will receive the pre-workshop assignment upon booking.
Workshop leader
Dr Malini Devadas has been working as a scientific editor for 10 years, becoming accredited with the Australian Institute of Professional Editors in 2009. She also manages Biotext’s training program, giving workshops around Australia on scientific writing, editing and publishing.
