The class will include:

* Dr Brook's entire masterclass (2 hours of lectures per day).  The lectures will cover:

  *   How to Make Things: Strategies and Factors Underlying Fabrication Decisions
  *   The History of Precision Computer-Controlled Machine Tools
  *   A Taxonomy of Digital Tool Types
  *   Advantages of Digital Fabrication Techniques
  *   Hands-On Example Parts
  *   Disadvantages and Cautionary Examples
  *   Assemblies Using Multiple Machines
  *   Machine Examination
  *   Expanding Manufacturing Possibilities and Outsourcing

* Tuition on 3D design using a variety of free and open source software (Blender, SketchUp, TinkerCad)
* The international Fab Lab movement
* History of 3D printing - from industrial rapid prototyping to home printer
* 3D printing uses - medical devices, dentistry, custom parts, artworks etc
*  The future of 3D printing - human organs, houses, food etc
*  How to use Fab Lab Adelaide equipment - 3D printers, laser cutter etc
* Tour of UniSA's Digital Fabrication workshop

Equipment used will include a range of 3D printers (UP Plus, Makerbot  Thing-O-Matic and Replicator, 3D Touch, Deltasine Redback), a laser cutter,  a vinyl cutter and a small scale milling machine. Participants will also have access to Fab Lab staff who have a range of expertise, from 3D, CAD and graphic design through to building and maintaining 3D printers.

The Masterclass is suitable for beginners right through to experienced designers. Places are VERY limited - book now to avoid disappointment!

When:   Tuesday 5th to Friday 8th November inclusive 10.00am - 5.00pm
Where:  Fab Lab Adelaide (Adelaide College of the Arts, 39 Light Square Adelaide)
Cost:     $ 699 (including GST). Group discounts available for 3 or more participants
