Blogging is a fantastic way to reach your stakeholders, demonstrate expertise and influence discussion and debate. This workshop will focus on growing your blog’s audience, harnessing the power of social media and writing captivating blog posts.



By the end of the workshop, you will be able to:

 _find and grow an audience for your blog
 _analyse readership data
 _effectively use social media to publicise your blog
 _develop your writing to maximise your blog’s reach.


Participant profile

This workshop is suitable for people who already have a blog and want to expand their use. Participants should be familiar with social media and have an active Twitter account.

Mandatory pre-workshop assignment: 1–2 hours.



Workshop leader

Dr Renee Barnes is a senior lecturer in online journalism at the University of the Sunshine Coast. She has worked as a journalist for numerous organisations including The Age, ABC and Australian Associated Press and still regularly writes for The Age. Renee also provides training and consultancy to industry on online journalism and social media.
