The Environmental Film Festival runs from 4-12th September at Kino Cinemas in Melbourne CBD. Showcasing a diverse
range of groundbreaking films from across the globe, thought-provoking discussion and debate and a range of special events, this year's program is bigger than Ben Hur.
Included in the festival program are films directed and narrated by Academy award winners, Luc Jacquet, Cate Blanchett and Sean Penn, a slow food tasting, eco-art and unmissable environmental cinema.
Highlights include the stunning Australian premiere of Once Upon a Forest from Oscar-winning director Luc Jacquet, and Slow Food Story a charming biopic on Carlo Petrini, founder of the slow food movement, followed by a slow food tasting and panel discussion.
EFFM has some great science themed content too, including The Human Experiment which delves into the impact of untested chemicals in everyday products, our homes and our bodies. Also check-out the Shorts Session, which includes the art meets science short Invisible Ocean which exposes the impact of plastic on the microscopic ocean world.
There are a whopping 32 environmental, science, foodie, nature, ocean, culture, activism and more films to choose from. The full program is listed at www.effm.org.au<http://www.effm.org.au/>.
EFFM in conjunction with ASC-Victoria are offering two prizes 1) Two free tickets to the opening ceremony (worth $80) and 2) Two free tickets to any regular session (not opening or closing night). All you have to do is answer in 50 words or less "What is an environmental film YOU think should be made?" Answers will be adjudicated by the Festival's co-director and ASC member - Chris Gerbing. Entries close midnight on Friday August 29th. Please email entries to ASC-Vic President - George Aranda - george.aranda at deakin.edu.au
