Those interested in this, and in joining us in the fight against woo, especially the mountains of pseudoscentific rubbish masquerading as health care, can join us (along with international experts, Nobel and Eureka Prizewinners, prominent experts and academics etc) as a Friend of Science in Medicine. Costs nothing, but it helps us build a body of sensible people who object to rubbishy pseudoscience, to having people gulled out of their money when they are most vulnerable, to the spread of absurd disinformation such as vaccines giving you autism, and to "treatments" that are inconsistent with the well-established rules of chemistry, physics, physiology and pharmacology.

We would love to have you with us.

Hello all,

Interesting report in The Age this morning on efforts to increase vaccination rates in Victoria:http://www.theage.com.au/victoria/state-rejects-noimmunisation-nochildcare-plan-20140211-32g2o.html

This sentence in particular raised an eyebrow: "Mr Davis [Vic Health Minister] said there was always a small group of parents who objected to immunisation but many could change their minds if given more information."

While there's a place for simple information provision, I don't imagine this approach will work particularly well with die-hard anti-vax parents. Pity the minister wasn't at last week's conference...
