Hi Kitty -

Thanks for that. I just spoke to Michael. He's not on the list, but he'd be happy to talk to any ASC-ers about the campaign. (He's at michael.wise at uwa.edu.au.)

Michael said two things that struck me. One, the campaign has been running for only two weeks, and two, no science communicators were involved in creating it.

It would be an excellent case study for the next ASC conference.

cheers,

Helen

Hi Helen,

don't know if he's on the list, but Michael Wise at UWA (copied in above) was involved.

Thanks, Arwen.

Is there anyone in the Immunisation Alliance WA on the ASC-list who can tell us about the development of this campaign?

cheers,

Too right. Interesting, too, to see the amount of effort put into producing and publicising the 22 page vaccination brochure yet we were told no audience research was done to make sure they were developing the right types of messages for the audience they wanted to reach. The National Academy of Science in the US have spoken about the value of doing this. Developing strategies without understanding the audience first risks distancing them even further.

A huge shame the Minister wasn't there!

Vicki
