The Sapphire Coast of NSW is celebrating National Science Week in a big way this year with the launch of the SAPPHIRE COAST SCIENCE FESTIVAL!
With funding provided by the Australian Government under the
Inspiring Australia program, a group of volunteers from various Sapphire Coast
organisations under the banner of the Sapphire Coast Regional
Science Hub is
organising activities in the area for the community.  


·         Conversations with ANU experts on climate, fire and water issues – Wednesday 13 August, 3pm-5pm at Bega
           Library. Bookings required: climateconversation2014-bega.eventbrite.com

·        
Various hands-on activities, walks and talks at Bournda – Saturday
16 August 1pm to 6.45pm 

·        
Presentations on Aboriginal science focussed on the Bundian Way and
a presentation on Aboriginal astronomy by Dr            Duane Hamacher (UNSW) at Jigamy
Farm – Tuesday 19 August, 4 - 6.30pm

·        
Panboola walks and talks – Thursday 21 August, 10am - 12pm at Panboola Wetlands, Pambula

·        
Science Café with science shows by Science Show-off, Dr Graham Walker, and local
businesses talking about the    
           science of their food production e.g. cheese making,
fish smoking, chocolate and wine making, sourdough bread, 
           coffee roasting, chilli
products, oyster farming – Thursday 21 August, 1pm to 4.30pm at Oaklands
Function Centre

·         Trivia Night: Food for Thought – Twyford Hall, Merimbula, Friday 22
August, 6.30 for 7pm start 

·        
SCMDC Open Day with displays and activities including ClimateWatch
walks – 10am -3pm Saturday 23 August
