A question was raised at the ASC Conference: when had people first heard the term 'science communicator'?

Most guesstimates were 1990, 1992.

The answer:

'Science communicator' the term was first measurable in 1961. It grew steadily in use until 1996, when use of the term took off sharply and peaked in 2004. Interestingly, the term is not used in either British or American English (and thus, presumably, not in the UK or USA)

'Science communication' is both used more commonly and more universally used. It emerged in about 1950, trended generally upwards until the early 1990s, and then rose sharply.

IT seems that the same pattern is true in the US and UK.

So there you go.....
