The Science Nation is celebrating National Science Week by answering the
question that has plagued mankind for centuries: which field of research is
the weirdest of all? To find out The Science Nation will hold a debate
tournament that sees eight prominent researchers compete to convince the
audience that they do the weirdest, wackiest, craziest research in the
world. With additional rounds of improvised, audience-inspired, topics this
Great Debate is 90 minutes of science & laughs that promises to be fun for
people of all ages.
Events will be held on the following dates and cities:
15 August – Brisbane
Brisbane’s debaters and topics are: Dr Ben Burton (maths), Dr Lucy Cradduck
(law), Dr Simon Haine (physics), Dr Rebecca Hill (nutrition), Prof Jenny
Martin (biology), Dr Daniel McKewen (visual arts), Dr David Parkinson (the
universe) and A/Prof Christine Wells (stem cells).

Curnoe (humans), Josien de Bie (medicine), Dr Lisa Harvey-Smith (the
universe), A/Prof Adam Micolich (nanotechnology), Dr Peter Rohde (physics),
Dr Ashley Waardenberg (DNA) and Dr Alice Williamson (chemistry).
