Check out this event happening in Melbourne (and other locations around Australia)
Fascinated by the amazing scientific discoveries happening around us? Enjoy a drink or two? Then this is the festival for you!
On May 18th- 20th, Australia will kick off the international festival with events in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide. This year Pint of Science will be running events in 40 cities across 8 different countries.
The format is simple: down-to-earth talks by top scientists in the most relaxed setting possible - the pub!
This is the second year that the festival is coming to Australia. We are running 4 themes: Beautiful Mind (all about the brain), Our Body (all about the body), Planet Earth (Geology and the environment), and Atoms to Galaxies (Physics and Chemistry) - check out the website<http://www.pintofscience.com.au/> for details of events in each city.
With topics such as "Chocs and Rocks", "Mind over matter?", and several previous TED talk speakers, the festival aims to bring you awesome science stories that will whet your appetite for more.
The festival aims to showcase the best of local research to the public. The events will be free of jargon, but full of fun! Tickets are only $5 and are available now from pintofscience.com.au<http://www.pintofscience.com.au/>. Melbourne events will be held on all three evenings of the festival at The Kelvin Club.
Whether you're a total nerd or simply enjoy a bit of a natter over some liquid refreshment, these talks will engage you with fascinating stories, discoveries and fun facts to amaze your mates. We look forward to seeing you there.
