"Beautiful But Deadly - How Parasites Cause Disease"
Numerous human diseases are caused by parasitic infection, including malaria, Chagas disease, African sleeping sickness and toxoplasmosis. Whilst these parasites cause huge amounts of disease and death worldwide, when you take a closer look these organisms are beautiful and fascinating. The deeper you look the more we begin to understand how these pathogens are exquisitely adapted to living in the human body. They are intricately detailed and it is amazing how these single-celled organisms can subvert all the defences of our complex body. Dr Chris Tonkin will take you inside the infectious world of these parasites and expose their secrets of success… .
