Dear ASC-List,

Today's member guest is a freelance animal welfare researcher and science
communicator. From 2007, Mia led the federal government Australian Animal
Welfare Strategy’s working group for dogs used in work and sport,
overseeing two major projects. In 2013, in conjunction with colleagues
keenly interested in and committed to the sustainability of working and
sporting dogs, Cobb founded the Australian Working Dog Alliance, a
non-profit organisation that aims to work with industry to improve the
welfare of Australia's working and sporting dogs. She believes in helping
scientific research escape academic journals, so established the popular
canine science blog, Do You Believe in Dog? (www.doyoubelieveindog.com) and
also co-hosts the anthrozoology podcast, Human Animal Science. She teaches
Psychology of Human-Animal Interactions at LaTrobe University and recently
completed developing an app with the University of Sydney called
Doglogbook, a quality of life assessment tool for dogs (and their owners!).
