further in understanding how the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) evades
the immune system.

Barcode scanner microscope films neurons firing

Engineers at ANU have built an advanced microscope using barcode laser
scanner technology that can film moving blood cells and neurons firing in
living animals. Lead researcher and Imaging CoE AI Steve Lee, a biomedical
optics engineer, said the invention was much more powerful than similar
microscopes available commercially.
