On Thursday, March 1, Australian Science Communicators (SE QLD branch) are
holding a special event inspired by the UN International Women and Girls in
Science Day (February 11) and International Women’s Day (March 8).
Stories from Women in STEM will showcase three female experts who will each
tell a true, personal story about working as a woman in STEM. An informal
networking session will follow the talks.
Event tickets are available here - bit.ly/stories-women-stem
We have discounts for ASC members! Use the code: ASC20
Our speakers include:
Associate Professor Jennifer Firn - a theoretical and applied ecologist who
specialises in studying ecological theory, and then linking these
theoretical constructs to the practical management of grasslands and
Associate Professor Richi Nayak - an internationally recognised expert in
data mining and web intelligence. She has combined knowledge in these areas
very successfully in order to transfer technology to real world problems to
enhance or change their practices and methodologies.
Dr Sue Keay - a Superstar of STEM and manager of the world's first robotic
vision research centre at QUT with more than 100 researchers distributed
across Australian and overseas research institutions.
