Dear science communication colleagues,
We at the Northern Australia Hub are delighted to let you know that we've
publicly released our free collection of 100+ northern Australia symbols
for all your northern Australia science communication needs. Head here
<https://www.nespnorthern.edu.au/resources/graphics-library/> to download
and read more below.
This collection evolved on an as-needed basis to help our project teams
tell the stories of their research in northern Australia and to aid
knowledge exchange with Traditional Owners, Indigenous rangers, other land
managers and government decision-makers. You’ll find symbols of invasive
species like feral pigs and stinking passionflower, native plants and
animals like boab trees and shorebirds, land uses, and people.
The collection is intended to complement the IAN symbol library
<https://ian.umces.edu/symbols/> where you’ll find ~3000 more symbols &
bases, including many relevant to northern Australia.
We’d especially like to thank Professor Stephen van Leeuwen (Noongar Nation
& Hub Research Executive Committee) and Dennis Cooper (Hub Kakadu
Indigenous Research Coordinator) for their wise advice while developing
these symbols.
We have vector PDFs to use with Adobe Illustrator and InDesign, as well as
high-resolution PNGs for Microsoft Office apps and Canva. As a bonus, we’ve
also included a swatch palette with the colours of northern Australia, as
both an Illustrator swatch palette and a Powerpoint file.
Please consider sharing through your networks. If you're on social media, feel
free to share our Facebook
<https://www.facebook.com/NESPNorthern/posts/2476115122681373> and Twitter
<https://twitter.com/NESPNorthern/status/1316181352916500486?s=20> posts.
We look forward to seeing your creations communicating about northern
Australia so please tag/send us your graphical abstracts, posters,
animations and diagrams.
The symbols also come with a required attribution with the Hub as the
source – you’ll find this info in the metadata of each file. Please let me
know if you have any problems.
cheers
Jane
